Packet and Bib Pick up is Friday from 5-9pm at the Natural Bridge Campground in Slade KY and the race starts there at 8am on Saturday. A USATF waiver must be signed in person at registration in addition to the waiver signed online through Run Sign Up. Runners under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian to participate. Runners will start lining up at about 7:30 Saturday morning at the campground. There will be 3 water stops and the bathrooms are at the start and finish line.
You will run in waves to keep safe distancing and within just a few minutes you will be deep into the heart of the Red River Gorge running on an old privately owned logging trail. You will be the first to run this course and it has 5, yes, FIVE, Natural Sandstone Arches. There will be rocks and roots, mud and mountains, and beautiful views, and you will be close enough to actually touch the arches. This is a loop trail but only about a hundred feet is repeated. You can even map your run with your phone. The third longest arch in the Gorge is Mountain Adventure Arch and you get to run through it! You will have 5 hours to complete the race.
Follow volunteer instructions to park in the grassy field. Have Bib on and visible. No pets on the trail. In the interest of safety, the meals will be individually prepared and prepackaged for runners at the end of the race. Please if you haven’t been vaccinated yet, please do so to protect yourself and others. We are following CDC guidelines so please keep safe and wear a mask when close to others. We appreciate all of our volunteers and as always the incredible Search and Rescue Teams stationed along the course and the EMTs and ambulances who are on standby.
Runners are the best judge of their body’s hydration levels but
Bring plenty of water! We cannot stress this enough. There will be water stations along the trail, but you need to carry water.
